It was a nasty day, 36F/2C with a light rain and a lot of wind but the snow is gone.  I called my detecting friend but I knew he would not answer his phone on such a day, and he didn't.  I detected 4 fields for about 3 hours.  Did not find much, 2 musket balls, 2 WWII swastika coins, a 1924 brass aluminum coin and a unique beer token that made the day.  Obverse of the beer token.  These types were probably in use from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.

Reverse of the beer token.  What makes this token unique is the name stamped into it, J. Wörl.  Beer tokens were a method of payment in Germany, getting paid in beer is not such a bad thing, LOL.  I have a list of the town's property tax payment record from 1860, 259 households/businesses and 66 farms paid taxes that year, total 325.  I looked for the name Wörl, did not find one spelled like that but found two that are spelled Wöhrl.  Maybe a typo on the beer token or the family Wörl was not in the town at that time.  It was a slow day for finds but I am looking for some new sites/fields to hunt, always good to get out.  HH, Mike

Wozu dienten Biermarken?
Je nach ihrem Einsatzort dienten sie seit dem 19. Jahrhundert als Rechenhilfsmittel zwischen Bedienung und Wirt oder Gutschein für die Mitarbeiter von Brauereien, die sich mit der Biermarke ihre Ration ,,Haustrunk" abholen konnten. Obwohl sie ,,Bier-Marken" heißen, haben die Marken also nichts mit den Markennamen von Bieren zu tun.
